How to Use the Concrete Calculator
Step-by-step guide to get accurate concrete estimates
Pick a shape
Choose slab/pad, wall, footing, round column, square column, stairs, or curb from the dropdown at the top of the inputs panel.
Set your units
Switch between imperial (ft/in) and metric (m/cm) using the unit toggles. All dimensions convert automatically when you change units.
Enter dimensions
Fill in length, width, thickness (or diameter, height, etc.) for your selected shape. Fields update in real time as you type and support backspace-to-clear.
Adjust quantity
If you have multiple identical pours (e.g., several footings or columns), increase the quantity using the stepper buttons or type directly.
Set waste factor
Waste is on by default at 10%. Adjust the slider to add extra for cuts, spillage, and uneven forms — the result updates instantly.
Add bag & cost estimates
Toggle Bag & cost estimate to enter bag size, bag yield, bag price, ready-mix price, and concrete density for weight and cost breakdowns.
Read your results

Concrete Volume Formulas
Core formulas used for slabs, columns, stairs, and more
The calculator uses standard volume formulas and applies unit conversions. These are the same formulas contractors use when they calculate concrete by hand.
Rectangular slab, footing
Use consistent units — all feet or all inches, then convert.
Wall
Height is the vertical wall height. Thickness is the wall width (e.g., 6 in or 8 in).
Curb / beam
All three dimensions in the same unit. Unlike slabs, curbs use height instead of thickness.
Round column / tube
Diameter and height in the same unit before squaring.
Square column
Both sides are equal for a square column. Height is the column height.
Stairs (solid, triangular prism)
Total Run = Run per step × step count. Total Rise = Rise per step × step count.
Unit Conversions
1 cubic yard = 27 cubic feet. Divide ft³ by 27 to get yd³.
1 cubic meter = 35.3147 cubic feet. Divide ft³ by 35.3147 to get m³.
For inches: convert to feet first (divide by 12). For cm: convert to meters first (divide by 100).
Bags, Ready-Mix, and Cost Estimates

Assumptions and Waste Factor
Why waste is included and how rounding works
Default waste factor
Ganak defaults to a 10% waste factor to cover spillage, uneven forms, and finishing losses. You can toggle waste off or adjust the slider from 0–50%.
The suggested order rounds to common delivery increments (0.25 yd³ for imperial, 0.1 m³ for metric). Rounding up avoids short pours and costly partial loads — especially important when placing a ready-mix order.
